Rating9.3Excellent

I have a table say my_table with say two columns: my_id(number) and my_data(clob type).
How do I read a specific row?
I need to see what data it has and after that I need to query that data.

  1. Oracle Clob and Decode
I'm using Oracle 11g, which handles clobs quite well. However, I have a stored procedure that is erroring on a line: Body Pl/Sql: ora-00923: inconsistent datatypes: expected - got CLOB The line in the select query is: decode(trim(C.TEST_DESC), null, 'Partial', decode(trim(C.KEY_ITMS), null, '…
  2. Oracle database: what is the simplest to get the…

Is there a better to do that? What about for other data types? Thanks.
  3. SELECTing LONG data type as a varchar directly
I would like to do the following: SELECT Col1, long_Col2 FROM TableX long_Col2 is of LONG data type. I would like to convert it to varchar in the SQL. I have seen solutions here with putting into another variable and stuff but I would like a solution with one SQL SELECT statement. How would do it?
  4. collection type
can you please give an example of the above and how it can be used in code in pl-sql. thanks
  5. VC++ ADO and stored procedure

The database access is implemented using ADO classes, and I have a problem very much like http://www.oraclesolved.com/general/Q_25451408-oracle-stored-procedures-ADO-and-VC.jsp. The answer to that thread is not relevant to the problem, as I have the same…
