Question

ORA-04030 out of process memory

Rating7.8Very Good

I am getting an ORA-04030 error message when we try to run a PL/SQL procedure.  My database version is 8.0.5.1.1. and OS is Digital UNIX 4.0E.  At first my SGA was approx. 350m.  Since then I have increased shared_pool_size from 75m to 100m to 200m.  This has not helped the error message go away but the procedure does run faster now.  The SGA is now 765m.  The procedure will only run a couple of times after flushing the shared pool but then it will error after that.  We have added commits from 1000 to 500 to 10 rows but it will still error at 10 rows.  Oracle support had me check the swap space and ulimit on the OS and it looks fine.  They also had me send a copy of the procedure.  I am still waiting to hear from them.  My server has 1G of memory.  Any ideas what this could be?
