How to specify output parameter size in stored procedure definition?

I am writing the following stored procedure in oracle, that has one input parameter & one output parameter, how can i specify the size of output parameter. It is giving syntax error.

procedure sample(InParam in varchar2(10), OutParam out varchar2(10) )
as
..........
begin
..........
exception
..........
end  sample;

  1. phisical size for a varchar2
    I need to know the physical size of a varchar2 field. for example. if a have a field NAME VARCHAR2(40) , how the oracle will store the data ? how many bytes this field will have ? NAME = 'FPINHEIRO' = ? BYTES NAME = '' = ? BYTES
