BREAK ON

Rating8.2Very Good

Hello,

First posting, so please bear with me.  I am using SQL+ against an Oracle 7 database and am having problems using the BREAK ON function.  When i retreive 2 columns in my select statement the BREAK ON works fine.  But when I use BREAK ON in my full query I also get an error at line 1 (the BREAK ON line) saying invalid SQL Statement.  my simple query that works ok is as follows:

 BREAK ON call__t
 select c.call__t,t.TEXT_TEXT
 from texts t, call c
 where c.call__t = 237223
 and c.text__ft = t.text__ft
 order by call__t,t.TEXT_TEXT;

Each call no (call__t) can have many lines of text (text_text) associated with it.  Therefore the query above retreives all th lines of text associated with a particular call.

The problem I have is when I use this principle in a more complicated query.  I have included the query below (and I appreciate it will not make too much sense as the table structures will not be available for you guys to see, but I thought you may be able to point me in the direction of what may be wrong/thing to check).

Break on a.call__t
select a.call__t, a.action_no, c.centre_logged, s.zone__t, z.zone_desc, c.client_log,
c.site__t, s.site_name, c.cust__t, cu.cust_name, c.book_date, c.book_time, c.fault_grade, a.who_action__c, e.employee_name, T.TEXT_TEXT,
C.CONTRACT_DATE||' '||C.CONTRACT_TIME, C.FIX_DATE||' '||C.FIX_TIME
from action a, call c, customer cu, site s, TEXTS T, zone z, employees e
where
c.call__t = a.CALL__T
and c.site__t = s.site__t
and c.cust__t = cu.cust__t
and a.action_status__c NOT in ('A501', 'A601', 'A701', 'A702')
AND C.text__ft = t.text__ft
and s.zone__t = z.zone__t
and z.zone__t in ('C1', 'C2', 'CC', 'CD', 'CB', 'C5', 'C6')
and a.who_action__c = e.employees__key (+)
order_by a.call__t, a.action_no, c.centre_logged, s.zone__t, z.zone_desc, c.client_log,
c.site__t, s.site_name, c.cust__t, cu.cust_name, c.book_date, c.book_time, c.fault_grade, a.who_action__c, e.employee_name,
T.TEXT_TEXT, C.CONTRACT_DATE||' '||C.CONTRACT_TIME, C.FIX_DATE||' '||C.FIX_TIME

Thanks for any help, and I am sorry for the sketchy information around this problem.
